Almost 10 years after the release of her first album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans, Anna-Catherine Hartley aka Uffie is back with new music and just released a new E.P called Tokyo Love Hotel. Here are her answers to somequestions we asked her in our re-interpretation of the Proust questionnaire.
Where are you right now ?
In my bed.
What is your present state of mind ?
Excited but relatively balanced.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A day spent laughing on a cafe terrace with those who inspire me, plotting an adventure with those I love, or resting all day naked in bed with a book.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My children and the people they are.
What’s your earliest childhood memory ?
Being told to stand in the corner until I was ready to play nice, and staying there for a ridiculous amount of time while pouting my bottom lip out.
Your favorite occupation aside of your music ?
Painter.
If you were not a musician ?
Another creative platform, something that helps people.
What makes you laugh ?
People with a third degree sense of humor.
What makes you cry ?
The fear and pressure of “doing it all”
Your favorite virtue ?
Intelligence, goodness, and magnificence.
What’s your best memory ?
Watching my kids grow and become these incredible people everyday is the best thing…
2019 has been very magical as well and I am really excited to see what the rest of this year has in store.
If you could change anything from your life ?
No. I feel very blessed and I think difficult times are necessary to prepare us for what’s next and make us stronger to grow.
Where would you like to live ?
A countryside house in Iceland for recharging, a flat in Paris for socializing, and a spot in LA for working. Clearly Id have a jet with an epic duvet.
What do you hate the most ?
Assholes struggling with ego.
What is your biggest quality ?
Looking at the bright side and being an open person. Being a romantic.
Your main fault ?
Wanting to please others and putting their wants and needs before my own. Being a romantic. Indecisiveness.
What is your guilty-pleasure ?
Smoking and daydreaming.
What is your mantra ?
Be present.
Best advice you’ve been given ?
Not to compromise who you are to fit with someone else.
One book that changed your life ?
I love books, and normally lean towards poetry, fiction, or classics. There are too many to name… but reading Confessions of an Economic Hitman at a young age did stick with me.
What is your favorite movie ?
Breathless
Your favorite song lately ?
I like Johan Johnnson at home, and Thotiana in the car.
How do you see yourself in 10 years ?
Expanding into different platforms of writing and design… and dressing like Tilda Swinton.
